Here is a short tutorial on how to turn the heater on and off inside our vans. If you have more questions or would like the written instructions, scroll down in the description. Common Heater Questions 1. Do I need to turn on the inverter or run the van for the heater to work? A: No, the heater operates independently of the inverter and van engine. 2. Is this a diesel heater? A: Yes, it taps into the vehicle's fuel tank. 3. What happens to the diesel exhaust? A: The heater burns fuel to warm air pulled from the vehicle. The exhaust exits through a pipe underneath the van, keeping fumes outside. 4. How much fuel does the heater use? A: Very little. It can run all night in below-freezing temperatures without significantly draining fuel. 5. How long can the heater run? A: As long as there’s fuel in the tank. The heater pulls fuel from about ¾ of the tank’s depth, so it may shut off if the fuel level is below 1/4 full. 6. How long does it take to heat up? A: It takes a few minutes to start, then warms the van at about 1°F per minute. If it doesn’t turn on, the set temperature may already be reached. 7. Does the heater have a thermostat? A: Yes, once the set temperature is reached, the heater will maintain it by cycling on and off as needed. 8. Can I use the heater while driving? A: Yes, the heater can run while driving, which helps keep the van warm before arriving at your destination. 9. Is it safe to leave the heater on overnight? A: Yes, the heater is designed for extended use, including overnight operation. Just make sure not to cover vents and adequate fuel levels. 10. How loud is the heater? A: The heater produces a soft fan noise but it's generally quiet and won't disrupt sleep. 11: What should I do if the heater won’t turn on? A. Check if the van’s fuel level is too low. B. Ensure the battery has enough power to start the heater. C. Make sure the heater is not already at the set temperature. D. Try resetting the heater by turning it off and back on. 12. Can the heater be used with the van doors open? A: Yes, but it will work harder to maintain temperature. 13. Does the heater dry out the air inside the van? A. Yes, like most heaters, it can reduce humidity. --- Heater Operation Instructions 1. Locate the control panel (includes buttons for lights, inverter, water, etc.). 2. Find the heater control (a black rectangle labeled "Eberspacher" with a dial and return button). 3. Turn the control screen on by rotating the dial. 4. Scroll until you see three vertical squiggly lines with arrows and a horizontal line underneath. 5. Press the center of the dial/button to select. 6. Set your desired temperature. 7. We took our camper van to Brian Head for an unforgettable ski trip, and honestly, it’s one of the best resorts for van camping! Unlike most places where you have to find a spot down the road or in some random lot, Brian Head actually lets you park right in the main parking lot—just steps away from the lift. Waking up and knowing we didn’t have to rush or deal with parking chaos was such a relief. The van’s heater was a lifesaver. Even though it was freezing outside, we stayed super warm and cozy all night. After a fun night hanging out with the crew, we got to sleep in a bit and still managed to grab first chair. The convenience of having everything right there made the whole experience feel so relaxed. And food? Forget overpriced resort meals. We kept it simple with grilled cheese sandwiches cooked on the stove and reheated Kneaders tomato soup in the microwave.
